Marco Madia was born in Milan, Italy. He currently lives in Berlin, Germany. As a child he received classical music training and in his early teens he started making his first experiments with electronic music and beats. Around this time he also started DJ-ing and by his mid teens he was a fixture at the turntables in Milano’s underground music scene. After finishing his high-school fine arts education, majoring in visual arts, Marco moved to Berlin and got a degree in audio engineering. During his studies he started focusing on sound design and after finishing his degree he started working as a sound designer. He has been involved in several major environmental sound design projects as well as more art-oriented projects, such as art and sound installations. He has also made several explorations in pure sound art. Parallel to his work with sound design Marco has continuously made music, played live-sets and composed various soundtracks for movies and dance performances. Though his music is mainly beat-oriented, the work with sound design has been a big influence and has also lead to more experimental works.
